In Memoriam: Dr. Enrique Arias Jiménez

Abstract

Enrique passed away. For our community it is like having lost our father. I personally lose one of my best friends ever. When we edited the last FAO book on cactus pear, I wrote that Enrique ‘was for the Cactusnet like a lighthouse in the storm. He guided and served science and technical development for the rural poor with devotion and daily commitment’. This is exactly true. Enrique was a dreamer.
